The Ministry of Culture of Russia has announced the program of the International Festival "Intermuseum 2024". It will be held in Moscow from May 23 to 26 at seven venues. This year's theme is "Museums are People". More than 250 experts of federal and regional scale will be speakers of the festival are. The business program includes up to 70 events, the public program - over 140.

It is the first time in Russian practice that a large-scale professional award, uniting all aspects of museum business: research, preservation, interpretation and presentation of tangible and intangible heritage^ is being given. Today in Russia there are over 3 thousand museums, the volume of the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation exceeds 70 million items, and more than 85 thousand people work in the industry. The Likhachev National Award is primarily intended to recognize the colossal work of these people aimed at preserving and studying the great heritage of our Motherland.

This gift will start of the formation of the Mueseum’s new collection of carved bone, representing the formation of a new center of bone carving.

On April 12 at 13:00 we invite everyone to a workshop on creating a decorative postcard-magnet "Cosmos" on the basis of Vologda lace. Thanks to Yuri Gagarin and his first flight into space, this theme became an inspiration for many masters of arts and crafts. Images of satellites and rockets found their way even into the lace panels! At our workshop the participants will learn the names of the masters who reflected the theme of space in their works, and will create an author's postcard-magnet with "space" motifs with the help of liners and designer cardboard.

From April 17 to 21, Gostiny Dvor will host the exhibition "Art Moscow". Our Museum is part of in the project "Today in the City" and presents the exhibition "In the Name of the Craft. Names of the XX century". At our exhibition for the first time in history the handicrafts are presented as a collection of jewelry. Each of the selected items is a legend, they have never been shown together.

At the end of 2023, 70 signed sketches of furniture and fragments of carved and painted decoration from the Moscow period of Sergei Malyutin's activity (1907-1911) were transferred from the museum's scientific library to the museum fund. Experts have established that some of them relate to the artist's work on the famous Pertsova House. Now this building houses the offices of the Main Department of the Diplomatic Corps of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Kursoy per., 1). And it is not so easy to get into this building. But the museum specialists were allowed by the staff of the Main Department of the Diplomatic Corps of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia to inspect and photograph all the interiors of the house preserved from the early twentieth century. Majolica on the facade, fantastic gargoyles and mermaids, numerous owls on staircases and chimneys, preserved wooden carvings, stained glass on asymmetrical windows in the staircases, built-in furniture, a telephone booth, unique for Moscow of that time - all this was photographed. Studying the interiors of the Pertsova house will help us expand our knowledge of the work of the Zemstvo workshop at the Moscow Handicrafts Museum, whose collection is kept in our holdings.
