Monuments are a familiar part of the landscape, both urban and mental. Lenin, Pushkin, the Unknown soldier - all these images live firmly in our consciousness.
Sculptures on a pedestal cease to be only a work of art, becoming a symbol.
At the lecture we will talk about different cases of erecting monuments and their demolition, memory and oblivion. Funny and tragic, pathos and touching - these stories will allow us to understand the mechanisms of collective memory and look at the monuments around us in a different way.
